Support for oil heated households
If your home is heated by oil, rising fuel prices can feel especially hard to manage. If you’re feeling worried about keeping your home warm or stretching your household budget, you’re not alone and help is available.
What support is available?
We offer a range of support designed to help ease the pressure, this may include:
- Friendly financial advice and guidance
- Access to grants that can help towards the cost of refilling oil or LPG tanks (*where eligible)
- Support with budgeting and managing household bills

- Support you to better understand your energy bills
- Guide you through applying for available grants

If you’re worried about affording your next oil delivery or staying warm, reaching out early can really help. You don’t need to struggle on your own, our friendly Officers are here to listen and support you.
Pension Credit
If you are of State Pension age, you could be eligible for Pension Credit. Plus, an award of pension credit can also provide access to a range of other benefits such as help with:
- Winter Fuel Payment and other heating costs
- Housing costs
- Council Tax
- For those aged 75 or over, a free TV license
Someone may still get Pension Credit if they:
- have not paid National Insurance contributions
- have some savings or a small pension
- live with their grown-up family
- own their own home

Fuel Vouchers
If you are experiencing challenges with fuel costs this winter, MHA may be able to provide support through fuel vouchers or winter packs.
